2 from area involved in I-35W crash in Lino Lakes
Two area residents were involved in a serious injury three-vehicle accident on northbound I-35W in Lino Lakes on Thursday, July 19 that required the interstate to be closed.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Chrysler 300 traveling north and driven by Michelle R. Nelson, 49, of Chisago City, struck a 1997 GMC Yukon that was stalled on the right shoulder of I-35W. The second vehicle then struck a third northbound vehicle, a 2003 Nissan Sentra, driven by Heidi L. Wermedal, 29, of Forest Lake.
The crash was reported at 3:29 p.m. north of Sunset Avenue in Lino Lakes.
Brent O. Slick, 62, of Arden Hills, the driver of the stalled vehicle, received minor injuries. His passenger, Mary A. Slick, 61, of Arden Hills, was in critical condition after being airlifted to a hospital, according the State Patrol.
Nelson received non life threatening injuries in the crash. Wermedal received minor injuries, according to the State Patrol.
The Lino Lakes Police Department assisted at the scene.
