Washington County will seek aid for two road projects from the Minnesota Department of Transportation Municipal Agreement Program, after the county board approved the request July 24. The projects would be for improvements at the intersection of TH-96 and CR-15, where Grant, Stillwater and Stillwater Township meet and CR-18 and 8th Street in Lakeland.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is accepting candidate projects for the fiscal year 2014 Municipal Agreement Program, which provides funding to construction projects that are developed and administered by local agencies and provide a benefit to both the local community and the trunk highway system.
The first proposed project would construct a single-lane roundabout at the intersection of CR-15 (Manning Avenue) and TH-96. The project would be expected to reduce traffic delays at the intersection and reduce the potential for fatal or serious injury crashes. The project has an estimated cost of $1.5 million.
The second project is construction of a right-turn lane at 8th Street to the southbound lane of CR-18 in Lakeland. The estimated cost is $31,000.
