Tuesday, August 7 is community night in local cities

Meet your local police and firefighters as communities come together for an evening of fun and bonding on Tuesday, Aug. 7.

The Forest Lake police department will be part of the city’s third Night to Unite, an annual event held to strengthen neighborhoods. FLPD encourages the public to join in on the festivities and challenges each neighborhood to host a block party.

To register, or for more information, contact Ashley La Valle at [email protected] or (651) 209-9919.

Night to Unite is sponsored by the Minnesota Crime Prevention Association, AAA of Minnesota/Iowa and local law enforcement communities.

In Scandia the Washington County sheriff’s department and Scandia fire department will host their fifth annual National Night Out, also Aug 7.

From 6 to 7:30 p.m., free food will be served, with fire trucks and mounted patrol on hand.

Also contributing are Meister’s Bar and Grill, the Scandia Store and Deli, Fairview Lakes Medical Center, and Lakeview Ambulance.

The event is held outdoors at the community center, 14727 209th St. N.

The Wyoming National Night Out, also Aug. 7, will be held in Goodview Park from 6 to 9 p.m.

Tommy’s petting zoo, a dunk tank, and a moonwalk will offer fun for kids, and a North Memorial helicopter will make an appearance.  Other attractions will be the fire department extraction demo, a simulated drunk driving course, Chisago County SWAT and their armored personal carrier.

The National Night Out goal is to heighten awareness of crime and drug prevention.

The Hugo Community Night Out will be Aug. 7 at Lions Park from 5 to 8 p.m.  Free food will be provided by the Hugo Lions.  Expect special guests, free games and treats.  Donations to the Hugo Food Shelf will be accepted at the old fire truck.
