Christopher D. Johnson has filed for reelection as mayor of Forest Lake. During his first term Johnson helped with the hiring of new City Administrator, Aaron Parrish, a new director of public safety, Rick Peterson, and with securing commitment from Teamvantage to construct a new, more-than-90,000-square-foot manufacturing headquarters in Forest Lake. He has provided leadership in directing the city to undertake a pavement management plan, a financial plan, a branding initiative, and the creation of Lake Fest. He has also worked to improve residents’ communications with the city council, to cause internal restructuring resulting in significant annual cost savings, and to implement strategic planning to lay the groundwork for redevelopment throughout Forest Lake and specifically along the Highway 61 corridor. Johnson said he is looking forward to the next two years, during which he envisions working to implement the redevelopment planning that has already begun, continuing to make institutional changes to make the organization more efficient and cost-effective, and working with residents and businesses to keep the city a great place to live and do business.
