US-8 resurfacing and intersection project switches detour route Aug. 22

The second phase of the US-8 resurfacing project between Grand Avenue and TH-95 in Center City, Franconia and Shafer is scheduled to begin Wednesday, Aug. 22.

During the first phase of the US-8 resurfacing project, which began Wednesday, Aug. 1 and runs through Wednesday, Aug. 22, motorists are detoured along CR-9, CR-37 and CR-21 (Redwing Ave).

On Wednesday, Aug. 22 the newly reconstructed US-8/Pleasant Valley Road intersection will reopen to traffic and motorists will use a new detour. Traffic will move along Pleasant Valley Road and TH-95 as intersection improvements, drainage work and paving takes place on US-8 between Redwing Avenue and TH-95.

The US-8 resurfacing project will include intersection improvements at Pleasant Valley Road, the addition of turn lanes at Gunflint Way, Redfield Boulevard and Redwing Avenue and culvert and drainage work.

Access to US-8 area residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the project which is scheduled for completion in October 2012.
