A new season, a new coach, a new class.

All of the above are in the cards as Forest Lake kicks off the football season tonight, Aug. 30. The 2012 Rangers and head coach Billy Kirch head to Cottage Grove to make their debut against Park.

The squads also met in week one last fall, with the Rangers scoring a 53-36 victory at home. Forest Lake went on to a 2-7 season. The Wolfpack went 0-9.

Park is 1-26 since the start of 2009 season and is riding a 20-game losing streak. The Wolfpack are expected to be led by senior running back Dylan Smallidge, who posted the most yards by a non-quarterback in the Suburban East Conference last fall. He and wide receiver Irving Gutierrez were members of the state champion 400-meter relay team this spring.

Forest Lake and Park are both part of the 32-team Class AAAAAA implemented this fall.
