Andrew Miron of Hugo was one of 50 college students from 24 states who studied farm financing, risk management and the global marketplace at the National FFA Organization’s New Century Farmer conference held July 8 to 14 in Johnston, Iowa.
The highly competitive program selects students who are committed to pursuing a career in production agriculture.
They learned from each other and from industry experts during classroom workshops and field tours. They attended sessions on personal and professional development and team building, and were exposed to the latest developments in agricultural technology.
The program is designed to provide valuable learning that the students will apply to their own farming operations, as well as resources and a network of friends that they can draw upon throughout their careers.
New Century Farmer is sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred (part of DuPont), Case IH, CSX Corporation, and Farm Credit, with media partner Successful Farming as a special project of the National FFA Foundation.
