Following the recent activation of the traffic signals at 8th Street and 4th Street in Forest Lake, Washington County will begin using flashing yellow arrow left-turn controls at five of the new traffic signals along W. Broadway Avenue (CR-2) during the first week of September.
Motorists can expect to see the flashing yellow arrow in operation at the Interstate 35 ramp intersections, 12th Street, 8th Street, and 4th Street during various times of the day. During periods of light traffic, the new flashing yellow arrow left-turn control will allow motorists to safely make left turns off of Broadway Avenue after yielding to opposing traffic, which will help reduce delay and keep drivers moving.
Motorists should not expect that the flashing yellow arrow or steady green arrow will be seen at all times of day, as their use will depend on traffic levels at any given time. Further information about flashing yellow arrow left-turn control can be found in the county’s brochure at http://www.co.washington.mn.us/_asset/g523d3/PW-FlashingYellowArrow-Oct2010.pdf
