Ranger girls impress at Dakota Classic

The Ranger girls’ cross country team took third place at the nine-team Dakota County Classic in Eagan last Friday. Forest Lake finished behind the fourth-ranked host Wildcats and No. 1 Lakeville South.

The Rangers totaled 86 points, 37 more than the runners-up and 47 fewer than fourth-place Eastview.

“We will adjust a few items in order to improve our standing and do a better job of maintaining our composure as the race develops,” coach Eric Kaluza said.

Allie Bartlett finished sixth overall in 12:05. Emma Benner took the final spot in the top 10 with a time of 12:30.

Maria Valentin (18th, 12:57), Miranda Overland (25th, 13:12) and Izzy Leininger (27th, 13:20) rounded out the scoring.

Abbie Asperheim (13:42) and Kallie Liston (14:12) also competed.

Caroline Schoessow raced to third in the JV field.
