East Ridge’s big first half buries Rangers
A pair of long kickoff returns helped propel East Ridge to a big halftime lead in Friday’s 42-7 rout of host Forest Lake.
The Raptors (1-1) opened the contest with a 91-yard return for a touchdown. The Rangers tied the game with 6:16 to go in the first quarter after Trent Rabel found Zach Freer for a 33-yard touchdown, but East Ridge took the ensuing kickoff back to the Forest Lake 6-yard-line and Nick Leach punched in his first of two touchdowns to make it 14-7.
The Raptors went on to score touchdowns on their next three drives, the final one making it 35-7 with 36 seconds left in the half.
Glen Miron rushed for 69 yards and Rabel finished with 125 yards through the air for the Rangers.
Forest Lake (0-2) hosts White Bear Lake (1-1) on Friday. The Bears are coming off a 28-19 loss at Stillwater.
