Anoka County holds photo contest

Anoka County residents are invited to submit photos to the “Send Us Your Best Shot” photo contest.

The winning entry will appear on the cover of the 2013-2014 Recyclopedia, an Anoka County guide about reducing waste, reusing resources, and disposing of materials safely.

The guide is sent to 122,000 households, tailored to each community within the county.

Additional photos will be featured on the county’s web site,

“This is a great way to raise awareness of all the great information the Recyclopedia has to offer and to showcase the talents of Anoka County citizens,” said Anoka County Commissioner Jim Kordiak, chair of the waste management and energy committee.

Photos must be received by Oct. 19.

Any amateur photographer who is an Anoka County resident may enter.

Photos must have been taken in Anoka County within the past two years.

Only digital photos with minimal manipulation (color correction, cropping, etc.) will be accepted.

Accepted formats are JPG and JPEG.

Each photo must be at least 5 inches by 5 inches, at a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.  The maximum file size is 5 megabytes.

The photographer is responsible for obtaining written permission and/or consent if a photo contains another person’s likeness or copyrighted material.

Contest participants grant Anoka County permission to use submitted photos for educational or promotional purposes, with credit given.

Submit photos to with name, address, phone, e-mail address, and details on when and where the photo was taken.
