North Lakes volleyball wins homecoming match

Huskies notch seventh victory

Last Thursday the North Lakes Academy volleyball team  hosted the Academy for Science and Agriculture Eagles in its annual homecoming match.

In front of a full house at Crossroads Covenant Church Activity Center, the Huskies went on to defeat the Eagles 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-22, 26-24). This victory improved the Huskies’ overall record on the season to a program high seven wins and six losses.

“The ladies really showed up to play tonight,” coach Jeff Beimert said. “It was homecoming, lots of energy from the crowd, and we came out and dominated the first set.  We had a few mental errors in game two, but came back strong in games three and four to secure the victory.”

For the night the Huskies were led by a strong offensive attack with multiple kills each by senior middle hitter Kirsten Thiele and junior Miranda McGlade.

North Lakes Academy had 15 service aces, with three each from McGlade, senior Shylo Stevens, and junior Autumn Percy.

The Huskies faced Calvin Christian on Tuesday night, and will come back home for parent’s night against the Hmong College Prep Academy Thursday, Sept. 27, at 7:15 p.m.
