He graduated from Forest Lake High School and had been working as a tree trimmer.
A celebration of his life will take place at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 28 at Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 Centennial Drive SW, Forest Lake. Visitation is from 4 p.m. until the service.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Lakeberg; children, Camella Whalen, Reese Whalen, and Jack Whalen; step-daughter, Neveah Peterson; mother and step-father, Susan and Eric Lee; father and step-mother, Mike and Gloria Whalen; grandmother, Dorothy Whalen; sisters, Wendy (Justin) Hahn and Marissa (Nick Troje) Lee; niece, Maya Hahn; and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gordon and Anita Reese, and Maurice Whalen; uncles, Frank Reese, Darrell Reese, and Bill McMurtry; fishing buddy and “surrogate dad,” Rick Plain.
