FL Tennis: Shortly sisters lose in state quarterfinals

Ranger sisters, junior Taylor Shortly and sophomore Chase Shortly, lost 6-1, 6-2 in their Class AA state tennis tournament quarterfinal matchup on Thursday afternoon.

The Forest Lake pair lost to Katherine and Jessica Aney of Rochester Century, who later went on to claim the state champion title in doubles on Friday. Jessica, a ninth-grader, now has two state titles under her belt after having won the Class AA state singles championship last year.

The Shortly sisters had advanced to the second round after defeating Leah Wurm and Sam Eisenreich of St. Cloud Tech on Thursday morning, 6-1, 6-4.
