Duane, or “Dewey” as he was known to many, was born in Little Falls, Minn., on Feb. 3, 1927, to Frank and Esther (Krause) Laseski. He married Rosemary R. Niedzielski of Gilman, Minn., on Sept. 5, 1951.
Duane was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy and a son-in-law, Steven Miller. Surviving are his devoted wife and four daughters: Ruth Laseski (Sandro Serra) of Bellaire, Texas; Mary Miller of Bountiful, Utah; Carol Boston (Rob) of Silver Spring, Md., and Barbara Ness (Randy) of Inver Grove Heights, Minn. He is also survived by a sister, Gerry Reaser, of Little Falls; a brother, Wes, of Edina; and nine grandchildren: Annie Serra, Ellie Serra, Laura Hancock, Julianne Hancock, Michelle Goeppinger (Sam), Claire Boston, Paul Boston, Riley Ness and Olivia Ness.
Duane was a veteran of the U.S. Navy who was stationed in Florida between August 1945 and July 1946. He took business courses at St. Cloud State and worked in management positions at Plastech Corporation, an injection molding company headquartered in Rush City, for 21 years. In his retirement, he operated a plastic materials business known as DL Specialties. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus in Forest Lake.
Duane enjoyed bicycling, card games and following Minnesota professional sports, especially the Timberwolves and the Twins.
