Harden places in writing contest

Holly Harden of Forest Lake won second honorable mention in a recent writing contest that was established for a good cause. Harden took part in the Kelly Culhane Writing Prize, which publisher Mike Savage of Savage Press created in honor of his niece, Culhane, who passed away in 2010 after a three-year battle with breast cancer, leaving behind a family. Contestants were to write on the theme, “Upon Arrival of Illness – Coming to Terms with The Dark Companion.” Culhane’s entry is also among 94 selected for publication in a book. The contest was judged by Laurie Hertzel, senior books editor for the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The compilation may be ordered online at www.SavPress.com, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to cancer research. It also features entries from Andrea Oberg-McArdle of Forest Lake and Heidi Schauer of Wyoming.
