Masquers on Broadway! (Avenue)

Eat and be entertained: Nine dinner performances of the holiday musical “Winter Wonderettes,” by Roger Bean and Brian Baker, will be presented at American Legion Post 225, 355 W. Broadway Ave. in Forest Lake.

Masquers Theatre Company has partnered with the American Legion to produce the 1960s-style holiday show, written as a sequel to “The Marvelous Wonderettes.”

This seasonal celebration finds the Wonderettes entertaining at the 1968 annual Harper’s Hardware Christmas party in Springfield, USA. When Santa turns up missing, to save the holiday party the girls must use their talent and ingenuity, plus some great holiday tunes such as “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Run, Run Rudolph,” “Winter Wonderland” and many other favorites.

The four singers are Emily Lehmann Wyberg, Julia Waletzko, Bailey Parenteau and Ian Lexvold.

The band for this production is Karen Hillman on piano, Craig Moen on electric bass guitar and saxophone, and Brian Etienne on drums.

The show is co-directed by Craig Moen and Karen Hillman.

Before the show, for $25 per person, you can enjoy a slow-roasted, bone-in pork tenderloin with sage dressing, mashed potato, gravy and glazed baby carrots. The meal also includes a dressed apple lettuce salad, assorted breads and strawberry-glazed cheesecake.

Or you might prefer crisp-skin roasted chicken with sage dressing, mashed potato, gravy and parsley corn. The chicken meal will be accompanied by Caesar salad, assorted breads and sweet apple crisp with caramel glaze.
