North Lakes Academy students in UMD honor band
Six band students from the North Lakes Academy Upper School were part of the University of Minnesota Duluth Honor Band Festival Nov. 1 to Nov. 3. From the left are Spencer Hammersten, Robert Shamota, Joe Wright, Spencer Stanley, Ryan Staffaroni and Tyler Patten, with Upper School Music Director Rachel Weidman. The students were chosen from a pool of over 300 applicants from schools throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin. Rehearsals included a class led by Rhythm & Brass and a workshop led by composer/conductor Frank Tichelli. The concert featuring two bands, Gold and Maroon, conducted by Mr. Rich Mowers and Dr. Mark Whitlock at the UMD Marshall Center for the Arts.
