On-Campus Part II: Out-of-state

On-campus coverage continues for Forest Lake-area graduates who travelled outside state lines for collegiate fall sports:


•Forest Lake graduate Billy Rosenthal recorded 45 tackles this season and played in all 10 games for the University of Wisconsin-Stout football team, including a season-high 11 tackles in the final game of the season against the UW-Oshkosh. The senior defensive back closed his college career with a total of 96 tackles, 62 of which were solo.


•Forest Lake graduate Mallory Messin played one round at her home course for the Grinnell College Invitational this year, finishing third out of 40 at plus-seven. The senior also took second after two rounds at the Midwest Conference Championship on Oct. 5.

•Forest Lake graduate Betsy Kelly played in all five fall tournaments for Division I Colorado State University. The junior played 15 rounds with an average of 76.2 and tied for fifth at the Price’s ‘Give ‘Em Five’ Intercollegiate tournament.


•Scandia native Lindsey Fowler-Wacholz played in 17 of 18 games for the University of Sioux Falls this fall as a defender. The senior also jumps triple-jump for the USF track and field team and was named All-GPAC in triple jump last spring.

•University of Wisconsin-Stout sophomore Sarah Ulrich played in nine games this season for the Blue Devils. The Wyoming native scored one goal in three attempts.

•Forest Lake native and graduate Nicole O’Bryan played in 44 games and 20 matches for the University of Wisconsin-Superior this fall as they went 19-14 overall. The college freshman recorded five service aces and 65 digs, averaging 1.48 digs per game, the sixth-highest on the team.

•Forest Lake native and graduate Lynette Benson played in 72 games this fall for Viterbo University. The junior middle hitter/ right side recorded 55 kills, 40 digs and 63 total blocks to contribute to the Hawk’s 32-7 overall record. Benson has played a total of 294 games for Viterbo with 302 kills, 116 digs and 112 total blocks.
