FL boys’ basketball
The Rangers lost their home opener to Blaine, 61-56, on Saturday. Matt Degendorfer led in scoring for Forest Lake with 18, followed by Noah Davis with 16 and Brock Baumgartner with five. Blaine outscored the home team in the first half 35-21, but Forest Lake out-shot their opponent from the free-throw line, going 15-19 on the night. The Rangers outscored the Bengals in the second, but it wasn’t enough to record the win. Forest Lake played Cambridge-Isanti at home on Tuesday night, and will travel to Centennial for a 3:30 p.m. game on Saturday, Dec. 8.
FL girls’ hockey
Forest Lake recorded its first loss and first conference loss this season to Cretin-Derham Hall, falling 3-2 last Tuesday on the road. The Rangers came home on Friday to tie 3-3 with Hastings, bringing their overall record to 2-1-2. The Rangers hosted Mounds View on Tuesday night, and travel to Stillwater on Saturday, Dec. 8 for a 7:30 p.m. matchup.
FL boys’ hockey
The Rangers opened their season last Tuesday with a 7-2 win over St. Michael-Albertville on the road, before coming home to take on Grand Rapids, defeating them 2-0. The Rangers have their first conference game tonight, Dec. 6, at 7:30 p.m. against Stillwater.
The Forest Lake wrestling team kicked off its season by traveling to Stillwater for a triangular tournament with East Ridge. The Rangers defeated the Raptors 42-23, but lost to the home team, 43-32. The next day the Rangers took third out of 10 at the St. Michael-Albertville Invite, losing to the first-place home team, who earned 265.5 points on the compared to Forest Lake’s 115.5. St. Cloud Apollo took second on the day with 121 ponts. Next, the Rangers host White Bear Lake at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6.
