‘Shop with a Cop’ a hit
FLPD helps youth buy their families Christmas presents
Several local youth learned felt the warmth of holiday cheer on Saturday, as the Forest Lake Police Department helped make sure Christmas would be merry for their families.
During the “Shop with a Cop” event at Walmart, children enjoyed a free lunch donated by Subway and shopped with Forest Lake police officers for gifts to give to their family members. Each child was given $100 to spend and nine officers assisted with shopping and gift wrapping. Wrapping paper was donated by Birchwood Arbors.
The shopping funds were donated by Walmart and the Forest Lake Police Relief Association. Police Chief Rick Peterson, two patrol sergeants, four officers and representatives from Birchwood volunteered their time.
The children were nominated by officers, school district employees and several other community partnership members.
