Edward T. Hinrichs, 90, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012 at the VA hospital.
He was born in St. Paul, May 23, 1922.
He graduated from vocational school as a cabinet maker, returning to that after the war, before becoming a construction superintendent. During WWII he was a flight engineer on B-17’s, flying 32 missions. He worked for McGough Construction as a superintendent for most of his career.
With his wife’s help, they researched his bomb group of all downed planes and what happened to every crew member of those planes, resulting in the book Missing Planes of the 452nd Bomb Group.
He was a lifetime woodcarver from grade school on.
Family will greet friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Mattson Funeral Home, 343 North Shore Dr., Forest Lake, Saturday, Dec. 29, with a ceremony by the American Legion at 11 a.m. An open house will follow the service at Edward’s home from 1-5 p.m.
He is survived by his children, Patricia (Greg) St. Onge, son-in-law, Bill Dukowitz, Donna (Ken) Zaglin, Kathy (Dan) Poff; nine grandchildren, DeAnna (Dukowitz) Larrabbe, Nicole (St. Onge) Reising, William Dukowitz, Anthony Poff, Ashley (Poff) Klofstad, Lea and Julia Benjamin Zaglin; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Randy; daughter, Linda Dukowitz; and granddaughter, Danielle St. Onge.
