Fairview offers scholarships
Do you live in the area served by Fairview Lakes Medical Center? Are you pursuing a career in health care?
If you answered yes, then Fairview Lakes wants to hear from you.
This year the Fairview Lakes Auxiliary will award 16 scholarships, totaling $16,000, to high school seniors and returning adult students.
Applications must be submitted on or before April 1.
Scholarships will be awarded in June. High school seniors who receive scholarships will be recognized at their high school awards ceremonies.
The scholarship grants are available to qualified candidates planning a career in a medical field. For a complete list of the available scholarships, visit www.fairview.org/fv/groups/internet/documents/web_content/scholarship-guidelines-2012.pdf.
Applicants must be high school graduates or graduating seniors who plan to attend an accredited school.
They must live in the area bounded by Pine City on the north, Lino Lakes/Hugo on the south, TH-65 on the west and the Wisconsin border on the east.
Fairview Lakes employees and their children are eligible to apply regardless of residence.
Submissions must include the three-page completed application, a 250-word essay describing the applicant’s motivation and career goals, and two letters of reference. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate good character, dependability and academic achievement.
Judging will be based on the essay, scholastic achievement, experience and/or exposure to health care, and financial need.
Recipients must maintain 12 credits per quarter, with one exception: Adults returning to school, changing careers, or advancing their education will be considered for the Cindy Lynch Memorial Scholarship if taking only six credits per quarter.
