The Forest Lake boys’ basketball team pulled out two wins in close games against Stillwater and Hastings last week.

The Rangers defeated the Ponies last Tuesday at home in overtime 61-58 following a slow start that had Forest Lake trailing 32-19 at the break.

Senior Noah Davis led the scoring with 23 points, followed by sophomore Connor Knutson with 22 points. Junior Matt Degendorfer and senior Anthony Tyler contributed 10 and six points, respectively.

The Rangers hosted a struggling Suburban East Conference team, Hastings, on Friday night.

The Raiders put up a good fight, forcing Forest Lake turnovers and staying with the home team throughout the first half to take the lead by five heading into halftime.

But Degendorfer was on his game, drilling three consecutive threes in the second half from the left wing. Forest Lake outscore Hastings 33-19 in the second half for the 63-54 victory.

Davis led again in scoring with 21 points, followed by Degendorfer with 17. Tyler contributed seven while senior Cody Walton recorded six points.

The Rangers improved their record to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in Suburban East Conference play. They traveled to Mounds View on Tuesday night and return home to host White Bear Lake at 7:15 p.m. on Friday night.
