Ranger gymnasts take down the Raptors

The Forest Lake gymnasts scored big this past week, starting with a season-highpoints total in a 137-130.575 win over East Ridge at home last Thursday.

Senior Jessica Dhaene led the Rangers, taking first in all four events as well as the all-around competition with a season-high score of 37.0.

Sophomore Lyndsey Anderson also had a strong showing with third place in the all-around, third on the balance beam and a tie for third with senior Amanda Williamson on vault.

Eighth-grader Lilly Foss debuted a new bar routine and earned third with a season-high 8.525.

“The scores are finally reflecting the work that these girls have been putting in,” head coach Ashley Brett said.

At the triangular on Saturday, Forest Lake hosted Sartell-St. Stephens and North Branch.

Dhaene continued to lead Forest Lake with first place in the all-around (36.525) and season highs on the vault (9.45) and the bars (9.575). Dhaene also took second on floor and third on the beam.

Brett said Anderson continued her consistency for the team on vault, scoring a 8.9 for third place.

“It’s a score the team has come to rely on,” Brett said. “If Jessica and Lyndsey stay as consistent as they have been the last month, they will definately be looking to take two of the four all-around spots at sections next week.”

Anderson also took second on the bars with a season-high 8.9.

The Rangers travel to Woodbury for their last regular-season competition at 6:30 p.m. tonight, Feb. 7 before the Section 7AA finals at St. Francis on Friday, Feb. 15.
