Students show drug awareness

Winners Kaylee Engstrom and Madison Schmidt, students at Wyoming Elementary, with Lion Stev Stegner.
Another year of the Forest Lake Lions’ drug awareness poster contest is in the books.
In October the senior high, junior highs and five elementary schools (Central Montessori, Forest Lake, Forest View, Wyoming and Linwood) were invited to participate, plus two charter schools (North Lakes Academy, Lakes International Language Academy) and two private schools (St. Peter’s and MAG at Maranatha).
In November more than 400 entries were judged by a team of 12 that included the school district superintendent, the chief of police, and Lions El Ewert and Stev Stegner, co-chairs of the project.
On Jan. 25 winners were presented checks from the Lions. First-place posters went on to compete at the Lions midwinter convention.
