The Science Department at Southwest Junior High has new student response clickers, thanks in part to a grant from The Education Foundation of the Forest Lake Area (TEFFLA).

The clickers will be used for formal and informal assessments and in-class surveys. After students submit their test or quiz answers, teachers can immediately see how they performed and quickly compare assessment data.

This will help the five science teachers at Southwest Junior High to use common assessments. By giving the same test to all students, in addition to measuring student mastery of concepts and identifying students who need additional instruction, teachers can also compare their students’ results to students of other teachers who teach the same course. This will help the science department identify effective instructional practices.

TEFFLA provides educational grants to programs and initiatives that support education and enhance learning opportunities. For more information, contact Laurel Walker at 651-464-0631 or  legacy@teffla.org.
