Scandia seeks applicants for planning commission
The City of Scandia needs a volunteer to fill a vacancy on the planning commission.
The five members of this advisory group are appointed by the council for five-year terms that expire on Feb. 1. Current members are Chair Christine Maefsky, Peter Schwarz, Steven Philippi and Jan Hogle. Tom Krinke’s term expired this month and has not been filled.
Planning commissioners review land development applications in order to make recommendations to the council. These include variances, conditional use permits and subdivisions. They participate in developing long-range plans and in revising and updating the codes and ordinances governing land use in the city.
The planning commission meets on the first Tuesday of each month. They also meet at the sites of planning applications. Site visits can occur before the regular Tuesday meeting or on Sundays.
Members receive $250 per quarter to cover expenses.
Application forms are available at the city office and at www.ci.scandia.mn.us. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. Review of applications will begin March 15.
