Hockey boys see season end in Cloquet

Despite outshooting their opponent 36-23, the Ranger hockey boys had their season come to a close up north Tuesday night. Forest Lake fell 6-2 to No. 17 Cloquet-Esko-Carlton in a battle between the fourth and fifth seeds in Section 7AA.

The Lumberjacks (16-8-2) roared out to a 4-0 lead by the game’s mid-point. The Rangers rallied to halve the deficit on second-period goals from Trevor Thompson and John Suess, but the hosts tacked a fifth goal on 1:27 into the third period and added a late empty-netter to close the scoring at 6-2.

Jesse Garcia had 17 saves for the Rangers, who end the year with a record of 15-11-0.
