Fourth-ranked Eden Prairie figured to be a tough opponent for the Ranger hockey girls in the first round of the Class AA state tournament, and that assumption was proven correct this morning, Feb. 21. The Eagles blanked Forest Lake 6-0 at Xcel Energy Center, methodically scoring two goals per period while allowing only eight shots on goal.

Eden Prairie (21-5-3) took control early by scoring twice in the game’s first four minutes. The tournament’s No. 2 seed advances to play Hill-Murray in the semifinals. Forest Lake (15-11-2) will take on Eagan in the consolation semifinals at 10 a.m. tomorrow (Friday) at the University of Minnesota’s Ridder Arena.

UPDATE: The Rangers lost to Eagan, 3-2, in the consolation semifinals Friday morning.
