FL boys’ basketball advances to semifinals

The Ranger boys defeated sixth-seeded Cambridge-Isanti at home on Thursday night, 83-62, to advance to the Section 7AAAA semifinals.

The third-seeded Forest Lake squad made an early statement with an 11-0 run to start the game, and kept the lead with help from junior Matt Degendorfer and sophomore Connor Knutson.

Degendorfer led the Rangers from around the perimeter with 25 points while Knutson contributed from both the blocks and outside the arc to record 24 points. Senior Noah Davis contributed 13 points, and classmate Brock Baumgartner earned seven.

Forest Lake will face the No. 2-seed, Duluth East, at 8 p.m. on Monday, March 11 at North Branch High School. The winner will face the victor of the 6 p.m. matchup between top-seeded St. Francis and No. 4-seed Andover.

The Rangers defeated Duluth East on the road in early February, 68-58.
