For submitting the winning essays to the contest, sponsored by Polaris Industries in Wyoming, the girls will attend a one-week introduction to science, technology and engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Stout in Menomonie this summer. Bowling, swimming, a pizza party and karaoke are also planned.
Polaris makes off-road vehicles, snowmobiles, motorcycles and hybrid vehicles. Annual sales in 2012 totaled $3.2 billion. Grants by the Polaris Foundation are made in the areas of youth safety, community development and environment and land access.
