Body of man last known to live in St. Paul discovered in cul-de-sac Monday night
The body of a man who was last known to live in St. Paul was found in a Columbus cul-de-sac Monday night.
The Anoka County Sheriff’s Office around 9:30 p.m. responded to a call reporting a body seen lying close to a vehicle on Camp 3 Road, west of Zodiac Street NE.
Upon arrival, deputies suspected foul play in the death of the 50-year-old Asian man. The sheriff’s office crime scene unit and criminal investigation division further investigated the scene. Anoka County Sheriff’s Office detectives are investigating the case as a murder.
The vehicle the body was near belonged to the deceased, but no association has been determined between the victim and the neighborhood.
The cul-de-sac is located in west-central Columbus, near the eastern edge of the Carlos Avery Wildlife Management Area.
Cmdr. Paul Sommer of the sheriff’s office described the area as remote yet residential.
“It’s a residential street, but the covenants are for like 5-acre minimum lots, and some are even bigger,” he said. “It’s not like a tight-knit neighborhood.”
The identity of the deceased was not available as of press time on Tuesday.
Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 763-427-1212.
