Synchronized swimming kicked off its 2013 season last Tuesday with two varsity and two junior varsity wins in the figure meet triangular against Bloomington and Columbia Heights.

Forest Lake had seven varsity swimmers earn points in the 26-3 victory over Bloomington.

Ninth-grader Andrea Dunrud took first, followed by sophomore Rachel Chatwin in second and junior Karlee Lawrence in third.

Senior Sarah Kroska finished in fourth while sophomore Lindsey Crohn and Stephanie Vos took sixth and seventh, respectively.

The Rangers commanded the pool once again in their 24-5 win over Columbia Heights. Dunrud, Chatwin and Crohn clinched the top three spots again, followed by Kroska in fifth place and Crohn in sixth.

Forest Lake’s junior varsity also defeated both squads, winning 17-12 over Bloomington and sweeping Columbia Heights 29-0. Ninth-grader Kiera Waskey, seventh-graders Kenzie Klein and Brecken Carr and eighth-grader Paige Thurnbeck earned the top spots for the Rangers in each matchup, respectively.

Head coach Laura Davison said she is pleased with her swimmers performance.

“I am happy with how all the swimmers did — they placed well,” Davison said. “We still have some work to do to continue to bring their scores higher.”

The Rangers also faced Stillwater last Thursday and lost to the Ponies, 20-9.

Forest Lake swam against Osseo on Tuesday, and will compete in the Grand Rapids triangular at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 20.
