High school musicians excel

Members of the Forest Lake Area High School band and orchestra programs took highest honors at Region 7AA Solo and Ensemble Contest at Andover High School on Thursday, April 4.

Students voluntarily entered the contest to perform a piece of music for a High School League music judge.  The performances are rated on tone quality, intonation, rhythm, technique and interpretation/musicianship.

Eleven student soloists received a superior rating: Kiersten Sloneker, flute; Dannielle Ihfe, flute; Dan Nelson, clarinet; Jon Voss, horn; Michael Palo, trombone; Tasha Montzka, violin; Adam Domitz, violin; Erin Schwister, violin; Arne Woinarowicz, viola; Riley Schilling, cello; Jake Ashworth, bass.

The high school Flute Choir received a superior rating.  The members are Kiersten Sloneker, Dannielle Ihfe, Mary Kasl, Zoe Geisen, Amanda Hennen and Maria Poyerd.

The String Quartet received an excellent rating.  Students in the quartet are Adam Domitz, Tasha Montzka, Arne Woinarowicz and Quinn Duffy.

Jon Voss, Jake Ashworth, and Tasha Montzka also received Best At Site honors for being the best performances their judges each heard at the contest.
