Come, remember Max

COM_Live to the Max“Don’t take life for granted, and live to the Max.”

This quote from a friend is one legacy from the life of Max Schwolert.

A former member of Hosanna Lutheran Church in Forest Lake, Max passed away last December at age 17.

He got the flu, and then a staph infection, after visiting relatives in Wisconsin.

On Dec. 23 Max was a healthy, athletic high school senior playing in the snow. On Christmas Day the illness hit. He died in a St. Paul hospital on Dec. 29.

The Minnesota Department of Health listed Max as the state’s third confirmed flu death this season.

Max’s parents were part of the ministry team at Hosanna from 1998 to 2006. They moved to Flower Mound, Texas, where Max’s father is a youth pastor.

To celebrate his life, Hosanna will host “Love to the Max” day from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 5.

During both services and between services, the choir, confirmation groups, Green Team and worship team will celebrate his life. They invite former neighbors, teachers and friends to join them.

Before May 5, Hosanna urges everyone who can to buy a $15 T-shirt. All proceeds will go to the Youth Ministry program at Max’s church, Faith Lutheran Church of Flower Mound.

Be sure to wear the T-shirt if you’re going to Hosanna on May 5: A group photo will be taken of all the “Love to the Max” T-shirts.
