The view from Lee The ice is officially off Forest Lake. The last chunks melted away between midnight and 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, but not before a record was set. This year’s ice-out date is the latest on record for Forest Lake, according to lake-watcher Corbett Johnson. The previous record, set on May 2, 1965, stood for 48 years. While most of the lake was ice-free by the beginning of last week, ice hung around on the south shore of Second Lake.
