Norwegians celebrate heritage

The accordions of Florian and Jerry Chmielewski and Lorren Lindevig will grace the Scandia Community Center from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 at the Sons of Norway 19th Annual Heritage Fest.

Many members of Vennelag 1-546 will be wearing their colorful Norwegian bunads, and various Norwegian crafts will be demonstrated.

The Norske Lotteri is the place to get a surprise gift, the silent auction will have interesting items, and Norwegian lefse will be sold.

Other authentic Norwegian foods will include smørbrør (open-face Norwegian sandwiches), meatballs, sausage, pickled herring, lefse, rice pudding, rømmegraut (cream pudding), rosettes and krumkake.

Admission is by advance ticket sale only. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from a Sons of Norway member.
