Principal Conway may join them

Every time the Wyoming Elementary PTA gets $1,000 closer to its fund-raising goal, it will send another teacher to the roof.

As part of a push to put iPads in every classroom, a number of teachers have volunteered to spend Friday, May 31, on the roof of Wyoming Elementary.

The fundraiser began on Monday, May 13. By the end of the first day, the group had raised $200.

The PTA already purchased 20 iPads at the beginning of the school year.

Eventually, they hope to have six in each classroom—a lofty goal that may take a couple years.

Between now and May 29, the aim is to raise $10,000, which will buy 25 iPads.

If they reach that target, Principal Mike Conway will join the teachers.

The drive coincides with Conway’s last days as principal. He is retiring soon; a community party to honor his work will be held at 4:30 on Wednesday, May 22.

“Mr. Conway has been a tremendous influence on the Wyoming Elementary Community, as well as a terrific sport,” said PTA secretary Amber Set
ter, “and we know this event will bring the students, staff, and parents together in a very special way that wouldn’t be possible without his leadership.”

Those especially interested in seeing the principal on the roof take note: Donations are being accepted through May 29.
