John T. Lynch

VIT_LynchJohn Thomas “Tom” Lynch, age 71, of Forest Lake, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 17, 2013, surrounded by family following complications from surgery.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John T. Lynch, Sr. and Fran.

He is deeply missed by his beloved wife, Kathleen; sons, John, III (Julie), and Patrick (Michelle); grandchildren, Danabri, Gannon, Nora, Kaitlyn, Dayna, Kyla, and Delaney; siblings, Kathie (George) Amble, Fran Lynch, and Michael (Meg) Lynch; brothers and sisters-in-law, Greg (Judy) Rademacher, John (Elfriede) Rademacher, Janine (Gary) Peterson, Michael (Lisa) Rademacher, Rita (Jay) Yamashiro and James Wicker; nieces and nephews; many relatives and friends.

Tom was a 27-year employee of Buhler, Inc. and had been actively enjoying his retirement since 2004. He was a true blessing to his parish, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where he offered his faithful service in many capacities over the past 40 years. Tom also served his community through his involvement in local politics, serving 12 years as a Forest Lake City Councilman, and also serving for many years on the Comfort Lake Forest Lake Watershed District up to the time of his death.

Tom also demonstrated his love for others through his service on the board of the Forest Lake Community Helping Hand. He was also very active in Boy Scouts, guiding his sons through their scouting experiences and continuing in leadership positions with Boy Scouts for years beyond.

Tom enjoyed being physically active, and looked forward to every moment he could spend downhill skiing in the winter. He shared his love of skiing with others by working as a ski instructor at Trollhaugen, where he was also able to teach his grandchildren to ski.

Tom conveyed a genuine warmth to everyone he met and was a great conversationalist. He will be strongly missed for his deep devotion to his family, which he demonstrated in his selfless love and acts of kindness towards his cherished wife Kathleen and his children and grandchildren.

Visitation was Tuesday, May 21 and continued from 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, May 22 at Roberts Family Funeral Home, 555 Centennial Dr. SW, Forest Lake.

Mass of Christian Burial was 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 22 at Church of St. Peter, 1250 South Shore Drive, Forest Lake.

Family interment was at Calvary Cemetery, Forest Lake.

    We will certainly miss Tom’s wonderful laugh & sense of humor. He was a true asset to Forest Lake, as a council member and member of many commissions & committees. Tom was always helpful, positive and dedicated to his family and the good of the city.
