Ranger boys place third at state golf

Forest Lake entered Wednesday’s final round of the Class AAA state golf tournament just a few strokes off the lead. The Rangers ended up grabbing third place in the eight-team field at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids. Eden Prairie tallied a two-day total of 609, edging Wayzata by one stroke. Forest Lake scored 618.

The Rangers were led by junior Luke Resler’s score of 151. He tied for 13th. Cody Seal, a Chanhassen senior, won the individual title by shooting 143.

For Forest Lake, senior Max Kelly tied for 31st with 156, junior Daniel Massey tied for 34th with 157, senior Trevor Thompson tied for 43rd with 160, junior Nick Moe tied for 48th with 162, and ninth-grader Jack Kluge tied for 87th with 179.

Hastings (623), Lakeville North (624), Alexandria (626), White Bear Lake (631) and Rogers (641) rounded out the field.
