FL falls in consolation championship at state

The Forest Lake baseball team, seeded fifth, opened the state baseball tournament at Midway Stadium last Thursday with a 2-1 loss to fourth-seeded Mounds View, who scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Rangers went on to face Wayzata on Friday morning at Siebert Field in Minneapolis, defeating the Trojans 3-0.

Forest Lake then fell to the No. 3-seed Lakeville North, 9-1, later that afternoon in the consolation championship.

The Panthers had been upset in the first round by Rocori High School, who then beat No. 2-seed Minnetonka to earn a spot in the state championship game tonight, June 17, against Mounds View at Target Field.
