Measure the electricity used by your freezer, TV or air conditioner by checking out a power meter from the Giese Memorial Library in Wyoming.
The library has partnered with Xcel Energy to help people learn more about their energy use.
Everyone wants to save energy, whether to lower bills, help the environment or both. Measuring the electricity used by each device is a good place to start.
With the meter you can determine the approximate operating costs of various appliances and electronics, identify high energy-use appliances, and discover which appliances use energy even when they are switched off.
Use this information to calculate the cost savings of replacing older appliances with more energy-efficient ones.
The Power Meter case includes a manufacturer’s instruction booklet, a brochure with quick-start instructions and a USB cable. For more help, watch the instructional video at xcelenergy.com/PowerCheck.
Power meters can be reserved at www.ecrlib.org by typing “power meter” in the keyword search in the ECRL catalog.
