The Andrew Walesch Trio will give a free concert at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2 in the gazebo at Lakeside Park.
Andrew, a 2010 music graduate of St. John’s University in Collegeville, has recorded two albums and has performed at the Chicago Theater and the Dakota Jazz Club.
For Thursday, July 4, Arts in the Park will start with a Shake Down concert from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This local father-and-sons trio is returning for the sixth year.
Tim Tkach and his sons Michael and David play classic rock songs. Tim does most of the signing, Mike plays guitar and Dave is on drums.
They formed their band five years ago, but for Tim Tkach it’s not the first family gig. He and his siblings had a band that performed in the metro area. And his dad owned the B-Sharp Music store in Minneapolis when he was a kid.
After the Shake Down concert, Forest Lake’s CharlieO will perform at 8 p.m.
Charlie Ollmann put himself through St. Olaf College by playing piano and guitar in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa. He taught music in the Forest Lake schools, then opened The Music Connection and resumed his solo career.
He has sung the National Anthem for the Twins, Vikings and Gophers, and his 12-string instrumental solo “Waiting” was used on the National Public Radio news program “All Thing Considered.”
He has also been the choir director at Hosanna Church for over 25 years.
The CharlieO concert will be followed by fireworks at sundown.
