Target helps Family Pathways

Target volunteers unload food supplies that will help feed hungry kids in the Forest Lake area this summer.

Target volunteers unload food supplies at Family Pathways.

The food shelves at Family Pathways got a boost to help feed hungry kids during the summer.

Family Pathways was one of 12 organizations selected by Target Corporation’s financial and retail services group to benefit from the Target United Way employee service project.

Under the direction of Target’s Ryan Flynn, 100 volunteers packaged over 500 summer lunch bags for children who receive the free-and-reduced-meal program at school and might miss meals during the school vacation.

During June, July and August, Family Pathways Food Shelves will distribute over 3,000 summer lunch bags that contain ten meals each.

Unlike school, hunger does not take a vacation. Many families face the summer months wondering how an insufficient family food budget will keep their children fed.

Persons wishing to help can make a tax-deductible monetary donation.

Because of the purchasing power Family Pathways has with Second Harvest, just $18 will provide a child with lunch meals for the entire summer. Contact Family Pathways Food Shelves at 763-552-7284 or visit www.familypathways.org  for more information.

Family Pathways is a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency that serves the city of Forest Lake and several counties in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
