Brown achieves highest rank in Boy Scouts

Nathan J. Brown, age 16, has earned his Eagle Scout Award. An Eagle Court of Honor will be held on Sunday, July 14.

For his Eagle Scout project, Nathan organized an outreach event to promote Youth Performing Arts (YPA), a Christian-based theater organization dedicated to developing and showcasing spiritual, social and creative gifts of youth.

Nathan designed and printed a YPA brochure and built an information kiosk that is a resource station for both YPA and Forest Hills Methodist Church in Forest Lake, where YPA rehearses and performs. He is responsible for updating the kiosk information.

A member of Troop 9733 Many Waters Chapter, led by Scoutmaster Pat Hudoba, Nathan has served as historian, quartermaster, scribe and patrol leader.

His community service activities included Forest Lake area blood drive, Lions waffle breakfasts and Forest Hills Methodist food shelf. He has been a Sunday school teacher, safety camp counselor and Camp Invention counselor, and he performed at Relay for Life.

Nathan has earned 24 merit badges, is an Ordeal and Brotherhood member of Order of the Arrow and attended Grey Wolf Training.

He attends Forest Lake High School, where he is actively involved in the FLHS theater program, Symphonic Winds, Jazz Band, and Youth Performing Arts.

Nathan is the son of Lisa and Steve Brown.
