Three women who participated in a parking lot prank involving their sister, a juvenile, will face charges.

Each of the three women face disorderly conduct and unlawful assembly charges. Both are misdemeanors.

The women – a 22-year-old from Forest Lake, a 25-year-old from South Carolina and a 27-year-old from Tennessee – admitted to staging a hoax in front of Walmart July 7. Security film showed the juvenile flee from the trunk of the parked car, only to be caught and forced back in. The car then sped away.

Forest Lake police treated the case as a potential kidnapping and directed many resources into the investigation. The mother of the four sisters called police the next afternoon and said the incident was a prank.

The Washington County Attorney’s Office is still reviewing information regarding the juvenile.
