Post 225 takes third place at state tournament

The Forest Lake Legion baseball boys took third place after falling to Burnsville, 3-1, in the semifinals earlier today at Braemar Field in Edina.

Post 225 took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Dylan Dresel, who led the offense by going 3-4, laced a double down the third-base line to put himself in scoring position. He crossed the plate moments later off an RBI single to right field by Brett Gravelle.

Following a one-two-three defensive showing in the bottom of the first inning behind pitcher Phil Sauer, Forest Lake struggled to stop the bats of the Cobras the remainder of the game.

The Cobras slugged a leadoff home run in the second inning, followed by a series of hits to add another run for an early 2-1 lead.

Burnsville ace pitcher, Tyler Hanson, kept Forest Lake at bay from the mound for a 3-1 victory and bid to the championship game at 1 p.m., where they lost, 15-2, to Eden Prairie. Both teams advance to the Central Plains Regional in Fargo next weekend.
