George and Darlene Jones will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 22.
Their daughters, Roseann and Renae, and their granddaughter, Kristin, will host an open house in their honor from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18 at Faith Lutheran Church, 886 North Shore Drive.
George served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and they were married in 1953. George then returned to the Navy for two more years before coming back to the States.
George and Darlene have lived in the Forest Lake area for more than 55 years.
After coming back from Korea, George worked at Thurnbeck’s Turkey Farm, then at Interstate Lumber Co. in Forest Lake and Hugo.
Darlene worked part-time as a teacher’s aide at Forest View Elementary School.
In recent years, they have both volunteered at Fairview Lakes Regional Health Center.
