LAYSB seeks adults to be Hidden Heroes

Caring adults in the community, known as Hidden Heroes, are needed for the 2013-2014 school year.

Each adult is paired with a youth. At least once per month, the Hidden Hero sends something uplifting in the mail to the youth partner. It can be a poem, an inspirational quote, a motivating story or some other idea.

The goal is for youth to feel valued, encouraged and supported throughout the school year.

The identity of the Hidden Hero remains a mystery for the youth. Until they meet their correspondent at an ice cream social in May, they will not know who sent the messages—only the excitement of opening the messages each month.

The Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau is looking for both youth and adult participants who would like to be involved.

If you know young persons between the ages of 10 and 17 who could benefit from positive adult support throughout the school year, tell them about the Hidden Heroes program.

To sign up to be a Hidden Hero or a youth in the program, contact Andria Flaherty at Lakes Area Youth Service Bureau at 651-464-3685. The e-mail address is [email protected]
